Hi

I'm moving my instance from a Win7 Home Premium (64bit) to a new Win8 (64bit) notebook.

Is there an easy way to move the settings from one instance to another?
I don't need the database and entries - so this isn't a problem.

In general: is installing TandemVids on Win8 recommended?

Thanks & Cheers
Peter

TandemVids and Sony Vegas both work fine on Windows 8 and 8.1.

If you have any trouble with the codecs, you can use the freeware Lav filters available from https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/ .

To duplicate your copy of TandemVids,
1. Install it and ensure everything is working.
2. Copy the contents of "C:\ProgramData\Swoopware" from the old computer to the new one. This will include the database, templates and music. You may need to turn on hidden items to see this folder.
3. Using "regedit.exe", export the registry key from "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Swoopware". Import the registry settings into the new computer by double clicking the exported file.
4. Copy your Local Projects folder to the new computer to ensure you have access to your customer's videos.

If you get any Cypres fires on the new computer, check your working folder is the same on both computers. You'll also need to make sure your DVD Architect templates are available in the same place on the new computer and they'll need to be write protected again.

This should get you started. Let us know how you go.

Cheers. Mick.

Hi Mick

And - as always - a superfast response from the creator himself :-)

Thanks very much for your description - I will perform the move in the upcoming days and inform you guys about the outcome!

Cheer and thanks again!

A few people have had trouble understanding Step 3.

Using the Windows Search functionality, type "regedit.exe". This should locate the application, which is a built in component of Windows. Start this application.

Be careful with regedit. You can break Windows if you start deleting keys. It behaves in a similar fashion to Windows Explorer but displays registry keys instead of files.

Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER node by clicking the little triangle next to the key.

Expand the Software node by clicking the little triangle next to the key.

Select and right click the Swoopware key. Choose Export.

Save the file to a USB Stick. Double click this file on the new computer.

Hi Mick,

I got tandem vids installed to new PC, with Core AVC and AC3 filter as well
When I go to trim a clip it says 'audio rendering has failed'.

Appreciate if you could let me know if I'm missing something. I have Vegas Pro 12 installed.

Cheers!

Hi Lani,

If it's Windows 8, CoreAVC no longer works. Uninstall it along with the AC3 filter and install the Lav filters from the link below.
