The thing I'm wondering if I selected the wrong path to vegas? Is there a way to change or check the path I picked?

You need Sony Vegas Professional version 8 or higher.

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum does not have any scripting functionality and does not support third party applications like TandemVids.

If you've bought Movie Studio by accident, it actually works out cheaper to buy studio and then upgrade than it does to buy Vegas Professional outright. Then you have licenses for both products. I've never quite understood this pricing loop hole. This forum post  has a 25% discount for March.

$94.95 + $342.97 is $437.92, which is less than buying Vegas Professional and now you have both licenses.

...and it looks to me like you can buy Movie Studio 11 for $44.95  and then upgrade to Vegas Professional 12 for $342.97 , effectively licensing Vegas Professional 12 for $387.92.
