These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.2.0.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. YouTube quota exceeded
Google have transferred most of our daily quota to RunRunVids.
Google will transfer the remainder at some stage and the TandemVids YouTube application will stop working.
You will need to make the switch to RunRunVids to continue using the YouTube functionality.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.1.5.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. An error was thrown in the YouTube application when new uploads were refreshed.
Fixed: V2018.2.0.0
New customers were not refreshed when the uploads were refreshed.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.1.4.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. Intermittent error copying to the clipboard.
Fixed: V2018.1.5.0
The text is copied and the error can be ignored.
3. Generating black video place holder videos for DVD Architect projects fails.
Fixed: V2018.1.5.0
This was a side effect caused by the changes made to fix the Vegas bug in 2018.1.1.0.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.1.3.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. Completed YouTube uploads can be stuck in the queue waiting for processing.
Fixed: V2018.1.4.0
This is a rare issue we've never managed to replicate. We've added a shift delete option to force removal from the queue.
3. Music files aren't being saved to the customer's project folder. The project references the central TandemVids music files.
Fixed: V2018.1.4.0
This will only cause an issue if music is deleted from TandemVids.
4. Archived projects reference media from the customer folder instead of the archived media.
Fixed: V2018.1.4.0
The local files will be picked up automatically if the customer's folder has been removed.
5. Input forms display the same caption twice in the title.
Fixed: V2018.1.4.0These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.1.2.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. The queue is broken. Don't use it to queue renders.
Fixed: V2018.1.3.0
Recent changes to fix the Vegas bug have broken the queue.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.1.0.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. A few seconds from the start of the source media are repeated at the end of some clips.
Fixed: V2018.1.1.0
A few customers are experiencing an intermittent issue where the source media is replayed from the beginning for a few seconds. Less noticeable is truncated source media.
A workaround to disable the new decoder is detailed in
this post .
A new decoder in Vegas caches media so the length or duration of the media from the previous customer's video is used to set the length of events for the current customer. As far as we know, this is only on Vegas 15 and 16. The problem is primarily caused by using the same file names for source media between builds, "Customer Media XX". If the Vegas decoder is confused, even deleting the file doesn't help. Vegas still pulls the file from it's cache and delivers the wrong duration. I can't even force it to drop the cached media.
We're investigating but there doesn't appear to be an easy resolution unless Magix fix their bug. A detailed and complicated workaround to ensure unique media file names is possible but it will take time to design and implement.
This work has been completed and is currently in the testing phase ready for release.
3. Naming your customer Con will fail to create their folder. It's a reserved word in Windows as are CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9.
Fixed: V2018.1.1.0
The workaround is don't use a reserved word to name your customers. We'll block them in the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.17.0.1. The help file is outdated by several versions.
This work is in progress. We decided it was better to release an interim version with the fixed issues.
2. Error when trimming longer media - Data conversion failed. [ OLE DB status value (if known) = 0 ].
Fixed: V2018.1.0.0
Media longer than 999.99 seconds or 16.67 minutes cannot be trimmed. The field in the database is too small.
When originally designed, media trims were represented by minutes, not seconds. A re-factor to use seconds did not consider the database field size.
3. Intermittent error when populating empty template events with GoPro 7. object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Fixed: V2018.1.0.0
The GoPro 7 will occasionally record without audio. This causes an error in TandemVids.
We can't fix the lack of audio but we can ignore it instead of throwing the error.
There is no known workaround but expect a new release to address the issue within the next few days.
4. Thumbnails missing for file formats other than MP4.
Fixed: V2018.1.0.0
The changes implemented for the GoPro 7 rotation flag issue had a side effect of bypassing the remaining file details if the rotation flag wasn't supported for the specific file type.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.16.0.1. The archive flag is not updated when you manually archive customers from the Search tab.
Fixed: V2018.0.17.0
This has been fixed ready for the next release.
2. The USB Volume label is not saved and reverts back to the USB folder name.
Fixed: V2018.0.17.0
The USB folder name is incorrectly saved over the top of the USB volume label.
If you use the customer name for the USB folder, set it to whatever you want the USB volume to be. Then re-tick to use the customer name.
This has been fixed ready for the next release.
3. Thumbnails for inverted GoPro 7 files with the latest firmware are upside down.
Fixed: V2018.0.17.0
The original GoPro 7 firmware produces incorrectly configured inverted files. The rotation flag is set but other software like Windows Explorer, ACDSee and FFMpeg do not respect the flag for unknown reasons. In order to rectify this issue, we manually flipped the thumbnails. Unfortunately this breaks inverted files that are configured correctly including files created with the latest GoPro 7 firmware.
This has been fixed ready for the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.15.0.1. The rotation tag in media is not respected when playing, trimming, setting speed changes or confirming freefall times.
Fixed: V2018.0.16.0
The GoPro 7 sets a "Rotation 180" flag when configured and mounted upside down or on belly mounts. Older GoPros flipped the actual video.
Vegas handles this flag as do most media players but TandemVids displays the videos inverted.
2. Fail - Waiting for photo capture to complete on slower computers.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
An inner 60 second time out overrides the actual time out.
If the photo capture duration exceeds 60 seconds, it will fail.
Workaround: Decrease the total captured photos from the Events tab or increase the time out. Tools | Options | Appearance | Increase delay factor to two or more.
We are working through a backlog of errors you've sent through. Thanks for your patience while we fix them.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.14.0.1. Blank left video when setting freefall times, slow motion or trimming.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
One user has reported this issue with the new version, which uses completely different technology to display the videos.
After seeing a screenshot, it's clear the left column is zero size as the volume slider is all the way left instead of centered between the two videos.
This must be a low level Windows issue. Try
updating the DotNet framework to the latest version.
2. Tiny videos when setting freefall times, slow motion or trimming.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
On machines with a high DPI where scaling has been configured, the media dialogs are scaled poorly.
Workaround: Maximise the windows to see the videos clearly. This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
3. The previous speed setting used on the speed change dialog is not remembered.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
4. Offline activation is not available to renew already activated licenses.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
5. NAS drives may fail validation due to invalid write permissions.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
Windows security is used to check for write permissions. On non Windows devices, such as Synology NAS drives, this security check fails.
This been fixed and will be included in the next release.
6. Deactivation fails to remove old license keys, which will be reactivated after restarting.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
This ends up in a loop situation, deactivate, restart, activate, deactivate etc.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
7. After timing out waiting for an available rendering slot, nothing happens.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
8. A single space in the second USB folder will throw a confusing error when the path fails validation.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
We are working through a backlog of errors you've sent through. Thanks for your patience while we fix them.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.13.0.1. Photos are intermittently missing from the final build when producing photos only.
Fixed: V2018.0.14.0
The photo capture process is still running when the file copy starts.
If the video is rendered, it provides time for the photo capture to complete.
Workaround: Options | Processing | Use the tried and proven Vegas capture
2. Blank left video when setting freefall times, slow motion or trimming.
Fixed: V2018.0.15.0
One user has reported this issue with the new version, which uses completely different technology to display the videos.
This must be a low level Windows issue. The new method must rely on the same low level technology we were originally using.
We are working through a backlog of errors you've sent through. Thanks for your patience while we fix them.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.12.0. 1. Standard users are prompted to elevate the licensing application on every start.
Fixed: V2018.0.13.0
The license key is now stored in the local machine registry hive.
If an administrator installs and runs TandemVids, the license key will be moved to the new location but all other users will still have the original license key. When TandemVids starts, it will try and move the user's license key but they need administrator rights to do this. If it's not moved, they'll be asked again.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.11.0.1. When the option to minimise TandemVids is selected, messages may steal the focus from other applications.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
This has been replicated in a stand alone simplified project and appears to be a Microsoft bug.
We'll keep working on this but it's mostly cosmetic and is not critical.
We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
2. Rendering the exact same project with identical settings is twice as fast without TandemVids.
Fixed: Vegas 15 (Build 384)
This was an issue with Vegas. It has been resolved in their latest release Vegas 15 (Build 384).
3. Multiple instances share window sizes and positions.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
Each instance should use and remember independent windows sizes and positions.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
3. Only the first YouTube email is generated.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
Workaround: Restart TandemVids to refresh the YouTube status. From the search tab, select the customers and click the Email button.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
4. Creating sub clips using the Vegas trimmer causes an error when the template is imported into TandemVids.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
Workaround: Insert the trimmed clip into the timeline directly or render the sub clip and insert the rendered clip.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
5. Blank left video when setting freefall times, slow motion or trimming.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
This has been reported a few times over the years but we've never managed to reproduce it. It is also affecting TandemVids 2016.
Updating the LAV Filters or video drivers has usually resolved the problem.
This is currently occurring for us with the latest drivers and LAV Filters so we're finally able to debug the issue in the development environment.
6. The new GPU enabled rendering engine "Magix AVC/AAC MP4" with an NVENC enabled template fails when using more than two instances.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
Update: We've added the option to limit concurrent rendering to two instances in V2018.0.12.0
Vegas throws an error, “A component failed to initialise."
This happens without TandemVids so it's a Vegas issue and isn't something we can fix.
I think we're stuck with two instances if we want to make use of the new speed improvements.
UPDATE: This only affects nVidia cards and is an nVidia limit, not a Vegas one as originally thought. Newer nVidia cards reportedly don't have this limitation.
If you have an Intel CPU with internal GPU, the Intel QSV encoder can be used without any instance limitations.
You can use NVENC and Intel QSV at the same time but there is no speed improvements over using Intel QSV for all instances.
To use nVidia GPU acceleration on more than two concurrent instances, you'll need a card with unrestricted concurrent sessions.
See this link for supported cards.
https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix
7. When running multiple instances using the same template, Vegas will intermittently fail to locate template media.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
Workaround: Wait until the progress item, "Copying Vegas template to the work area" is ticked before processing the next instance.
This only affects Vegas 15. Magix have done something weird to file security and permissions so the media files are locked for read access while the template is open for the short time it takes to save it to your instance folder. This is not the first time they've caused grief due to this file locking issue. We'll see if we can build yet another workaround into TandemVids to accommodate the Magix inconsistency.
We can't currently reproduce this issue. It may have been caused by duplicated media in the template we were using to test multiple instances.
8. When updating an existing template, included media is not updated if it already exists.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
Workaround: Right click the template, select Advanced | Edit stored procedure and replace the media manually.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
9. Photos are missing when import photos and capture photos are used at the same time.
Fixed: V2018.0.12.0
The numbering is incorrectly reset after the import and previously copied photos are overwritten. Captured photos will overwrite the photos from the imported folders. The original source photos are not affected.
Workarounds:
Option 1: For imported photos, clear the option to use the customer name and delete the prefix. It will then use the original file name and nothing will be overwritten.
Option 2: Use the tried and proven Vegas method available from the Options in TandemVids to capture photos.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.10.0.1. When the option to minimise TandemVids is selected, messages may steal the focus from other applications.
This has been replicated in a stand alone simplified project and appears to be a Microsoft bug.
We'll keep working on this but it's mostly cosmetic and is not critical.
We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
2. Failed to add envelope point (point may already exist at that location).
One person is experiencing this error and we're working on it but we can't currently reproduce it.
We'll remove this from the known issues. We can't reproduce it and it hasn't been logged by anyone else.
3. Out of memory errors.
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
I've seen a few people with a heap of errors, crashes and error logging failures.
The out of memory error is the underlying cause of multiple unrelated errors.
This is caused by installing the 32 bit version of Vegas and the 64 bit version of TandemVids on a 64 bit operating system.
TandemVids runs inside of Vegas so it uses the same address space as Vegas. TandemVids handles this but the database doesn't.
Workaround: Install 64 bit Vegas with 64 bit TandemVids or 32 bit Vegas with 32 bit TandemVids.
We're working on a solution to catch this incompatibility and halt execution.
4. YouTube application errors, negative retry time-outs and lost authorisation tokens.
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
Some last minute changes to the latest version have caused some unexpected errors whenever the internet is disrupted.
Workaround: Clear credentials, resume any uploads and reauthorise TandemVids. This will be fixed in the next release due soon.
5. YouTube application error, "The tasks argument contains no tasks."
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
If you clear credentials without any uploads in the grid, this error is thrown. It can be safely ignored.
6. Cancelling a render by closing the render progress window does the opposite of the confirmation prompt.
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
Answering no to the confirmation closes the form but doesn't cancel the render so an error is generated when we update the progress on the recently closed window.
Workaround: Use the cancel button rather than the window close button
7. Cancelling a render using the window close button may cause Vegas to freeze, which locks the file and keeps TandemVids locked.
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
This is related to the previous bug.
Workaround: Use the cancel button rather than the window close button
8. The inserted and modified columns on the archive tab should be hidden.
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
Ignore these fields as they're intended for internal use.
9. When 32 bit Vegas and 32 bit TandemVids are installed on a 64 bit operating system, automatic updates will install the 64 bit version of TandemVids.
Fixed: V2018.0.11.0
Workaround: Install TandemVids 32 bit manually or install 64 bit Vegas.
This has been fixed for the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.9.0.1.
3. Check for updates offers to install the same version that's currently installed.
Fixed: V2018.0.10.0
This is cosmetic. The current version does not actually install again. We've fixed it for the next release.
4. Computers using French regional settings fail to export any photos using the new ffmpeg option.
Fixed: V2018.0.10.0
This may be a problem for other regions as well. It's due to the comma used for decimal places. Ffmpeg can't process numbers with commas.
As a workaround, you can use Vegas to export photos or set your decimal places to use a full stop instead of a comma in the regional settings of Windows.
We'll fix this for the next release.
5. The order of events displayed on the Event tab may be incorrect. You may see event 9 of 12 displayed first for example. If you name this intro, then the video will be created out of order too as the intro will be aligned with event 9.
Fixed: V2018.0.10.0
When the events are loaded from the database into memory, the events are sorted using the wrong field.
This will be fixed in the next release due in the next few days.
As a workaround, follow the event numbering to name them correctly.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.8.0.1. Vegas throws an error on exit every now and then.
Fixed: V2018.0.9.0
Vegas 15 seems to be the worst offender especially when running multiple instances. We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
3. Failed to add envelope point (point may already exist at that location).
One person is experiencing this error and we're working on it but we can't currently reproduce it.
We've wrapped loops around the code and inserted the same 3000 envelope points spaced one nanosecond apart 1000 times in a row without issue. The code checks before inserting a duplicate envelope so this error should never happen. The method that throws the error contains only three lines of code. It doesn't make any sense.
As soon as we can reproduce the issue, we'll be able to rectify it.
4. YouTube application retry timeout error - This type of CollectionView does not support changes to its SourceCollection from a thread different from the Dispatcher thread.
Fixed: V2018.0.9.0
Although intermittent, this has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
5. We were unable to log the error.
Fixed: V2018.0.9.0
The installer normally creates the TandemVids event log with elevated privileges but a recent change means this is not created correctly.
Running TandemVids as Administrator rectifies the issue but this shouldn't be necessary
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
6. If TandemVids or Vegas are blocked from accessing the Internet using a software firewall, Vegas might crash.
Fixed: V2018.0.9.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
7. The YouTube application overwrites the error message returned by Google with the retrying in xx seconds message.
Fixed: V2018.0.9.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.7.0.1. Vegas throws an error on exit every now and then.
Vegas 15 seems to be the worst offender especially when running multiple instances. We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
2. When the option to minimise TandemVids is selected, messages may steal the focus from other applications.
This has been replicated in a stand alone simplified project and appears to be a Microsoft bug.
We'll keep working on this but felt the issues fixed in this release to be more important. This new bug is mostly cosmetic.
We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
3. Failed to add envelope point (point may already exist at that location).
A few people have encountered this error and we're working on it but we can't currently reproduce it.
4. "Check for update" throws an error on 32 bit installations.
Fixed: 2018.0.8.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
5. The automated "Check for update" logs an error on 32 bit installations but no error message is displayed.
Fixed: 2018.0.8.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
6. "Check for update" throws an error when there is no internet or no answer from the server.
Fixed: 2018.0.8.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.6.0.1.
3. A few valid license keys are not accepted with the message invalid license key.
Fixed: V2018.0.7.0
The text area where you enter your license key had a maximum length so characters were dropped from the end.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.5.0.1. Vegas throws an error on exit every now and then.
Vegas 15 seems to be the worst offender especially when running multiple instances. We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
2. Photo capture does not allow for trimmed videos.
Fixed: V2018.0.6.0
This occurs for both methods of capturing photos. This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
3. Photo capture progress is not updated correctly when using Vegas.
Fixed: V2018.0.6.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
4. Importing templates without any empty events such as a customer's completed project gives no warning.
Fixed: V2018.0.6.0
This used to generate an error but we handle it now without any warning. Users are confused by the missing events on the Event tab.
While it makes no sense to import a template without any empty events, we'll allow it after confirmation with the user.
The confirmation has been added and will be included in the next release.
5. If you don't render the video, you'll receive a prompt to continue with the other formats as if the video render failed.
Fixed: V2018.0.6.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
6. If TandemVids is minimised, an error may be thrown when you hover over the taskbar thumbnail.
Fixed: V2018.0.6.0
The window has zero height and width and causes an error when we create the image to display. This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
7. Small USB drives fail validation. Destination USB drives and folders are incorrectly required to have over 2GB of free space.
Fixed: V2018.0.6.0
We use the same algorithm that checks the work area for drive accessibility, write permissions and so forth.
This was an oversight. The size restriction shouldn't apply to final destinations, only the work area.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.4.0.1. The TandemVids application occasionally fails to appear when started.
It seems to get minimised along with Vegas. Just select it from the task bar.
2. Vegas throws an error on exit every now and then.
Vegas 15 seems to be the worst offender especially when running multiple instances. We're aware of this issue but have no workaround.
3. "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when closing TandemVids.
Fixed: V2018.0.5.0
This should be fixed in the next release but we were never able to reproduce it.
4. The status at the bottom of TandemVids is not reset after processing.
Fixed: V2018.0.5.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
5. If you set both left trim and right trim, the right trim is ignored.
Fixed: V2018.0.5.0
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
6. Completed uploads are never cleared with the message "YouTube is processing your video". No email is generated.
Fixed: V2018.0.5.0
This occurs when the YouTube email generation fails. No error is shown but errors are logged in the background.
This happens when the YouTube email body or subject are empty.
A workaround is to open the TandemVids Options Dialog and click OK. This sets the default subject and body and emails will be generated.
Deselecting the option "Generate customer emails" in the YouTube application rectifies the issue but no email is generated.
This has been fixed and will be included in the next release.
7. The stop and play buttons on the trim dialog have weird scaling issues with the images.
Fixed: V2018.0.5.0
TandemVids works with high DPI monitors more common these days. This will be fixed in the next release.
These are the current known issues with TandemVids 2018.0.3.0.1.
3. If you untick include in the media grid, all the event names and ordering become unstable.
Fixed: V2018.0.4.0
We'll sort this out as a matter of urgency. As a workaround, use delete instead of include.
I changed the cause and description of this issue after testing.
4. Importing any Vegas templates with errors such as missing files will throw an error in TandemVids.
Fixed: V2018.0.4.0
This is normal but we'll catch it and switch to a friendly message rather than logging the error.
5. Vegas 15 (Build 216) does not work with TandemVids. It locks up at "Clearing work area"
Fixed: V2018.0.4.0
This is clearly stated in the
ReadMe.rtf
(64kb) downloaded 168 time(s). file and
FAQs but who reads those?
There is an overly complicated workaround also in the read me but we'll just block any builds earlier than 261 instead.
6. An error can be thrown by the waiting for photo capture to finish if no photos were captured.
Fixed: V2018.0.4.07. File copy progress hangs if minimised when a single file is copied.
