How can I link the length of a transparent logo to the empty events in Sony Vegas?

Right now I only managed to define a given length but I want the logo to be shown during the whole video.

This is a tricky one. It is a feature request on the road map  but there is no easy way of doing it currently.

One method which may work, but I'm yet to test, is to create two overlapping events above the main video. These events need to be less than the minimum length your video will ever be and, when combined, greater than the maximum length of your video.

Let's say your videos are roughly six minutes long but never shorter than five minutes. Create two five minute events with your logo. One event lines up with the start of the template. The second event lines up with the end of your template. As the video is created and the length changes to accommodate the source media, these two events will slide past each other to effectively cover the whole video.

I'll do a quick test and see if I can get it working.

This seems to work OK but you need to lock the left hand logo so it doesn't move. Right click the event, choose Switches and turn Lock on. You don't want the right hand logo locked as you want it to move. The yellow border around the left hand logo indicates the lock in place.

I also expanded one of the empty events to align the end of the project with the end of the right hand logo.

Let me know how you go. It's a bit of a fudge but it should get you by.

Hi Mick. Thanks for the response and the test - I'll give it a try.

I still see a difficulty with the transparency of the logo as two events that overlap each other will add up with transparency.

As soon as I've done my tests I'll let you know.
